help needed urgently!!!

i was usin windows xp sp3 until yesterday but today when i opened my pc the windows didnt boot. it asked me in which mode to open like safe mode , normal etc. but it didn't open. i wanted some files from it. so is der ny way to retrieve those files??

Most probably , you did an improper shutdown or a virus has caused it to happen.

Select ''Last known good configuration'' and boot up.

If it fails , boot into safe mode , and do a system restore.

i did everything but nthg is workin.
now i'm workin on a temp os but still cant my files .
ny more suggestions?

You can access your PC with a live cd....
Then u can mount your drives....Backup your files and then format and reinstall your XP......
This is what i always do.....
