coz microsoft is jealous
finally im the 1st person who post the topic in here..hehe..so,motorola Q using WM..why WM?why not LINUX???
One thing the Q does have going for it: Pocket Mac. At least Mac owners can sync with it.
One good feature for PC users, it comes with Active Sync. One of the major requirements for which appears to be forcing users to regularly hard reset their Q's to keep them healthy and clean.
Because a device that big support over the syncing along with the ability to access exchange server e-mail. Making it a very good competitor against the Treo 700w.![]()
To compete with a product, one should release a superior product. windoze can't come close to either linux, or palm.Originally Posted by Integra-t

Actually, it is a superior product because it runs Windows. For us tech savvy folks, we would probably prefer it to run Linux or Symbian. I would never downgrade to the Palm OS. But the majority of people now a days are use to a Windows environment. There are more available applications for a Windows device and it would also be easier to sync with most desktops.Originally Posted by zbangash

I don't know about that. You do know that Windows Mobile isn't just a port of the desktop version, right?
PalmOS 5 is SO old now, with Cobalt being a stillborn product. I still have no idea why nobody used Cobalt. Do you *really* think PalmOS is superior? Even Palm uses WM5.
As for Linux, I like it, and I use it on my laptop, but I hate Linux for smartphones so far. My A780 is slow as hell, and it restarts inexplicably throughout the day. It seems the API of choice for Linux smartphones is J2ME. Need I say more? Add to this the fact that Motorola locked away the most interesting API's like GPS. On the whole, I haven't found many compelling J2ME apps, and Motorola did a pretty crappy job on the user interface.
I'm an alternative OS nut, still running my Amiga, BeOS (still my favorite), and Linux often. But at least on the smartphone platform, WM5 is what works best right now. The Linux smartphones I've tried so far are frustratingly bad (Motorola's fault). PalmOS is hopelessly outdated. I tried the A780 for a year, but I'm ready to upgrade either to the Q or the XV6700.
I'll probably try out Linux smartphones again in a while, but right now WM5 is the best platform for most users.
Still not for sale??
