Just imported Z8 from UK, got a good deal, excellent phone, Will be waiting for this forum to roll.
mind posting your impressions? im really interesded in this device... also thinking on HTC S710
which one should i go for?
Ps. Alpha43 any input on this matter?
After long thought and doing comparison between S710 and Z8, I thought of gong ahead with Z8, what I liked the most was the looks, and the processor.
Also i was sick of using windows as platform, I love ROKR E6 amazing phone with amazing capacity to change. Similarly i found we can play around a lot with Z8.
You can download some good stuff from www.uiqv3.com.
I still havent received my review unit, but once i do i will share it with everyone.

I have had a Z8 in use for just over a week now here are some of my views:
- The look of the phone is fantastic compared to Nokia N95 etc.
- The display is the best I have seen on a mobile phone.
- The phone can be prone to long pauses skipping from applications or opening contacts etc (although I've heard it is an improvement on some UIQ phones).
- The Sync software doesn't seem right, with the sync often deleting my business contacts (outlook) from the phone. This means that I have to perform a repair to get contacts from PC to phone rather than using the last updated option.
- Battery life is very short.
- Call quality is very good with a loud earpiece.
- The keypad is a bit suspect with a none responsive feel, making it easy to miss numbers or letters.
- The camera is average although the 8x zoom only appears to work in video mode.
- The Bluetooth connectivity seems excellent, often a complaint of some Motorola devices in the past.
These are initial thoughts and also I am not technically minded when it comes to PC's, phones, etc so some of these issues may be just because I am not setting them up correctly.

Let me add some to Martin's comments. I have had my Z8 for less than a week and I love it. I was using the Z6 before which is okay as well, but I love all the multimedia features. I like that you can use the camera to take pictures both from the back and front of the camera. That is pretty cool. I do not find the keypad hard to get around on, but the direction pad is kinda small so I find I am getting into the wrong menu at times. Sound quality is awesome. With the slight tilt of the slide the phone fits nicely to the ear. It does pair easily with the bluetooth items I have. The Motorola PCSync is hard to get use to. The transferring of songs to my sd card was much easier on the z6 than the z8, but it can be done. There are so many features I have to learn on this phone yet I will keep you updated on them as I learn.
I still need to find someone with the AT&T configuration setting so I can use the browser and send text messages.
The manual came in Spanish, but it was easy to find a free download of the English version.
Love the phone thus far!!
Anyone want to buy a practically new Z6 with a 2gb card, screen protectors, leather case, extra battery, and the S9 headset? I will part with it for $300/free shipping.
Have a good one!!
