Why do we need Linloader to load scripts

Hi,

I bought new moto rokr E6 phone last week.. i found this forum to be very interesting and useful.. I downloaded the Linloader today and when i extracted the package and explored it, i found that Linloader itself was a shell script that just exec our script.

I have two basic doubts.
1) why doesn't our script file run if we simply click it? and why we need to open with Linloader?
2) Since Linloader itself is a script, how does it get loaded and starts executing when our scripts are not able to be executed directly?

I can see in Linloader.desktop file, that exec= points to Linloader.lin. If we point our desktop file to our .lin file, wont it run our script directly? or is there anything special in"open with" that causes the linloader to get executed?

It's only because when you click on file, the UI doesn't "exec" it, but search it's registry for suitable application (for this extension). By packing and installing the linloader (with .desktop file) it will be registered as application and therefore can run.

Then if i create a .lin file and along with it i create a .desktop file corresponding to my .lin file and i point the "exec=" in that .desktop file to my .lin file, then will my .lin file also be registered as an application so that i can directly start my script without the need for linloader?

Well, yeah, you'd need to pack that script, .desktop file and some icons into .pkg and install it, the script will be in the main menu. But it's just way easier to use linloader..
