  1. Default Web/MMS Setup for AT&T (Complete Guide)

    GUIDE TO SETTING UP WEB BROWSER and MMS SESSIONS for the V8

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    TO USE WEB SERVICE THRU AT&T
    ======================
    Settings are a little tricky on this one. There are two seperate areas that have to be filled in.

    STEP 1
    =====
    1. Go to Settings-->Connections-->Add a Connection.
    2. Create one called MEdia Net using the following settings.

    Profile Name: Media Net
    Proxy 1: 66.209.11.32
    Port 1: 80
    GPRS APN: wap.cingular
    User Name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
    Password: CINGULAR1
    Quality of Service: Data
    GPRS Timeout: 15 Minutes
    SAVE SETTINGS

    No Additonal Settings are Required.

    STEP 2
    =====
    Under "Browser Setup" in the Web Access Menu, you need to select Browser Profiles. Then "Add a New Profile".
    1. Profile Name : MEdia Net
    2. Homepage: http://device.home
    3. Data Connection: MEdia Net.
    SAVE SETTINGS

    USING MMS WITH AT&T
    ===============

    1. Open up the Messages Folder
    2. Click on Options
    3. Select Multimedia Messages
    4. Choose "Manage Service Profiles"
    5. Choose "Create"
    ---> Profile Name: AT&T
    ---> Service Center: mmsc.cingular.com
    ---> Internet Connection: MEdia Net
    SAVE SETTINGS
    6. Go back to Message Folder/Options/Multimedia Messages again.
    7. Select "Active Service Profile"
    8. Choose "AT&T"

    I sure hope this little guide helps everyone who has the V8 and AT&T to be able to connect to the Internet and to be able to exchange MMS.

    You might be waiting a while on the English keypads. It seems that I was lucky to get one.
    I ordered from Phonesource the FIRST day they were released and I was told that I actually got the first one.
    I got the English keypad.

    Baldilocks,

    Thank you Mr. BL, your guide worked perfectly. I did cuss you for a bit, but it seems you have to type it as you wrote, you can get creative with typos.

    I used this for the Z6 and everything works on it except the MMS. I have browser service, I can text to an email address, I just can't MMS to another phone. Any ideas?

    Would you know where I can get the same settings for the Rogers Network in Canada. I always get an error message when sending and receiving a picture message.

    Thank you! We are two blondes who bought the V8 phone because it "looked" great - and nobody wanted to help us set up the thing with our AT&T service - not sure if it was because they thought we were dumb blondes or they didn't know - anyway - your instructions are perfect and we are thrilled! Thank you
