looks like heavy development on FSO integration into EZX these days.

This is fine, this image is built for a780's 16bpp framebuffer.
If you uploaded a kernel with the E6 's machid, then it produces 18bpp.
I heard kdrive have to be modified, or maybe ezx.c to make the e6 / a1200 / a910 to produce 16bpp can work, too.
Say developer, but it's so hard!

What will be the benefits of installing this on my A780 compared to the stock image?
I have installed some images on the Freerunner (not tried FSO) and never was very pleased with the result. Sold my Freerunner because of this.
My quest threw the wilderness of possibilities on the A780

this version is in early development stage.
i hope that in february a mostly stable image for the A780 is available.
the benefits are mostly for education. one can learn how an embeded LINUX works.
at the moment it is not a replace for the existing EZX system.

it looks like we have to wait a bit longer.
