Well ,you could extract the pkg, and ( if it is EZX specific pkg ) then most of the apps will not work.
But generally we have good ported opensource softwares, and they can be ported anytime to any platform, ok, this can be tricky, but finally, our phones are also QT-based as qtopia is, so there is a lot of similars ports, they are possible, at least..
Qtopia also works on openmoko, with pkg, ipkg, opkg, .deb.... Sometimes the same package file extension are different packaging in fact, there are many software managements system on linux, our phones have a nice little one, and not much alternative, but this is not necessary to always have alternative!!! in this case this is working well!

For example, at some times, there was no a lot of cracked rootfs, with mpkg installer, so there was a trick with another installer, neo-installer iirc.

This is the matter of flashing the phone with an sbf file, using some motorola's utilities, so please read the guide to flashing for e6 http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/e...g-your-e6.html and you'll be safe.
Basicely, you should at least know what phone's version you have, for ex. i have an A1200, and it works like a charm, i believe in others like A1200i, or A1200e it will to, but please make a report of that, it is an old thread!! anyway, as i said, you should be safe to do what you want and reflash back to the good old montavista"s fw.
-Just making sure you have the right firmware backed up should suffice to be able to go back.
-You know qtopia is a "rootfs-only" firmware, so will not mess with the modem (baseband) parts of the phone, so it is theory, but you should risk less with qtopia than with a lot of modded fw, just because of that.
-in case you don't know exactly what firmware version you would need to go back, what type of flashfile you need, etc... then you can investigate on how to make a backup of an ezx phone's firmware here http://wiki.openezx.org/Backups (or please ask).
But maybe you will not, if you find a nice replacement for all you favorites ezx apps, then...
Last edited by sabrod; 12-03-2011 at 06:08 AM. Reason: ezx use qt-embeded (v2,3), not qt-extended wich is qtopia
