mostly harmless is a quote from the hitchhikers guide to the galaxis.
i don't know who came up with the fan club idea

    //colpino,
see Qtopia dedicated thread here - hope this explains that these people running Qtopia on their phones (both E6 and A1200) ARE NOT IDIOTS but real ethusiasts and they are contributing this open project with their testing and bug reporting. There are more things discussed at motofan.ru
next time try to be more attentive when waving your flag all over the place screaming smth. like "Everyone's a jerk but I'm the prince..."
    take no offence - peace.
//swifty, I really believe you can contribute Qtopia porting as well.

i have used a working Qtopia version on my NEO1973!

and i have seen this version on my A780:
    http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/a...-1-kernel.html
but i can not see an big improvement compared to the existing MotorolaEZX system.

how to flash the tmp_do image on A780 with Linux?

are you joking? there's no soft to do it by now.
ok man, if you know how to flash any of our phones from under Linux - be sure that you're the 1st and share your experience immediately

if you have Qtopia image - not .sbf, then you can mount it and make it work from Linux (but this is unless you reboot the phone) - so it is not flashing

I think Qtopia should run on Neo smoothly - what are your comments and impressions?

tmp_do and other guys from motofan.ru have already released Qtopia build dated to 10.08.08 so they constantly work with bugs - the major disadvantages by now is that bluetooth, camera, GPRS and external speaker are not working - still it's not something to be claimed as EZX alternative by now. But when everything is fixed and it's ported for 2.6.1 Kernel then it'll be more than alternative
I think it's just a step for Linux community, but a very big and straightforward effort for Motorola linux fans!

these .sbf files are unknown on Linux.
but flashing a kernel and rootfs is possible as far as i know.
maybe a more experienced person can give a correct answer on this.

Yes, it is fast responsive an looks good.
But it is not so feature rich as MotorolaEZX
    (specially with some .mpkg hacks).

I totally agree, except 2.6.1 (this is soooo yesterday)

flashing on linux is possible for a long time. You can use ezxflash tool, or use mtd to flash the phone even without a nearby computer.

thanks to the experienced person for your answer

    my thought:

if we can flash from memorycard to phonememory a microsoft developer is obsolete.
    http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/d...developer.html

-we need to publish the filesystem in a different format (no .shx or .sbf crap)
-a simple application with batterystatus check and input lock
-nice graphics (in between the flashing process) maybe a short movie
    -...
