i don't know 2008.8. on 2007.2 was a menu if you press the AUX button.

there is a known bug in 2008.8:

you have execute via ssh with: DISPLAY=:0 gpe-scap

Those where the days, I only heard of Linux and I was curious about red hat. And star office was the popular office program then. And 56k was all that was available. Ahhhh those were the days. I almost pulled my hair out because of that dreaded ME
