phone functionality (with sound) is easy (setup alsamixer is all)
but there are some basic things not in line yet (power management).
    development is growing very fast.
it is new for me (A780) to have more than one firmwareupdate a day

Looks great Swifty, I'm really jealous Definitely going to buy one.

What does work right now? Only calling or can you also SMS, use address book, calendar?
My quest threw the wilderness of possibilities on the A780

Awwwwright swifty! Im waiting for a while for a good moment to buy Neo1973. It would rock everything out! I heared that after new year on march 11 is starting last phaze of shipping it. So meybe that would be the moment....mmmmmm...can't wait.

BTW how's the cover quality? Is it good? Comparing to Motos... for example Ming. Cose i have a feeling and it looks on photos like pure plastic with poor quality. I hope I am in mistake and thats not true.

the cover is plastic, but i have not seen this kind of plastic before.
it feels very good (kind of rubberised).
if you can wait, you can get the NEO with WiFi and more horsepower.
mine is the first version without these goodies.
have a look at wiki.openmoko.org for details.
