Learned from my mistake!!

I was experimenting with skinning my E6, so unpacked the xxxxx.skn package, modified it and packed it back, copied it onto phone, and installed using Eakrin's skin installer. Then rebooted and the phone went dead at the log on part. It just stood there without any progress and the feeling sunk in, flashing.., should I, shouldn't I ?! Left it ON for 1 hour, same thing. Flashing is not a big issue, but my problem was that this was the latest stock firmware (R533_G_11.12.08P) with built-in many things which are discussed in other threads of modding like equalizer, etc., and I wasn't sure if flashing other modded/hybrid firmware would retain these things, in that, I just bought this phone(1 month back) and I am sure this contains the latest piece of software code.

I think I made some errors in color correction, file format, size etc on the above skin and so my E6 won't go beyond the log on screen. After thinking all possible solutions, as a final attempt, I removed the memory card and rebooted. To my astonishment, the phone booted and everything appeared ok except for the skin part. The containers of the skin were all black blocks, nonetheless immediately I went to setup and put on the default theme first, rebooted and all was fine. Then I installed my favorite skin (Eakrin's Lamborghini) and things are back to normal. BTW, I store all my skins on memory card. So probably I was able to recover without flashing.

I learned my lesson yesterday, never cross the limits set by the phone, hopefully I will be more careful in future while editing skins and themes

I think you create a wrong .skn file by mistake such as wrong filename before execute packSkin.pl. I did it once. so after that I always test .skn file and iconres.ezx before installation by re-extract it again.

and the important point in this thread is you can fix incomplete installation skin by reboot phone with no memory card. is it true? if it is this is a very good solution or all.

Yes Eakrin, I believe so, I rebooted without the mmc and it booted with corrupted skin but you can see the parts of the phone and change it to default skin.

Hey buddy got a problem, im newby to this thing, the problem is this, hope you can help, i downloaded a skin folder but when i unzip the folder i get lots of extension such as .ezx .skn .pskn and i dont know what to put into my phone, what extension? i already go mpkg and suck and its working perfect with other apps, my only problem is this related to skins, id really appreciate your help friend, thansks.

Quad band, edge, all kind of pkgs, lots of jars, my last step was skinning it, i was afraid but i read alpha´s guide and that was the last thing, now im finally enjoying.

Last thing... my gf is sick about me and my rokr, whenever she gets angry i start talking about the mentioned masters, my respect to them.
