Thread: E mail problems

  1. Default E mail problems

Could use some help please. My ZN5 is a unbranded unlocked Europrean model that I bought on Ebay. It came with Russian instruction booklet.

I have AT&T service. I was able to install my sim card and make calls without any problems, but couldn't connect to the internet till getting some setting information from a AT&T customer service agent. He wasn't able to tell me much about this phone since AT&T doesn't have it.

After changing the settings I can now connect to the internet. My home page is Yahoo. I can access it over the AT&T network, and also on wifi over my home wireless network.

My problem is that when I try to send a picture to my Email I get a message that says since the phone can't connect to the server it is storing my Email unsent. I can open my Email on this phone from my Yahoo home page, and it will send and receive new Emails from there, but I still can't just send a picture via the phone to my Email inbox.

I think it's just a matter of changing the settings. Part of the problem is I'm a very low ranking geek.

  2. Default

I called 611. They gave me some codes for the email and mms. We didn't achieve success yet but I think I'm close. The excuses on the screen changed after the changes I made.

Is it now possibe the only thing wrong is the picture is to big to send on email? Most pictures are 800k to 1.5m

I'm going to try reducing the size of the picture before sending the next one.

  3. Default

I've now got the browser working fine. I also got the MMS configured.

I can send a picture over MMS no problem, but I'm still having problems with the email. It's hit or miss. I have managed to send about 5 emails with a picture, but most of the time I get an an excuse.

The most common is that the phone encountered a problem and is storeing the message in the outbox. I don't think I have the email configured right yet.

  4. Default

Ok, I got it working. My best friend is a mighty geek. I talked to him tonight and he knew right away what the problem was.

The ZN5 allows you to connect via WIFI, or the phones network, in my case AT&T. You can select either WIFI, or Celular, or both. If you select both the phone will use WIFI as a default if it's available. I had my phone set for both, which means it will always choose WIFI when I'm at home.

My friend informed me you can't send a Email over WIFI. I switched the setting to celular only and now it sends Email like it should.

So in the end my unbranded, unlocked ZN5 is working fine now on the AT&T network. I can browse, MMS, SMS, and Email.

These are the settings for AT&T. I live in North Texas.
