Thread: wifi browsing?

  1. #1

    Default wifi browsing?

can anyone tell me how to access the internet using wifi? I connected to the wifi at my house, but when I go to the browser using "fun&apps">"web access", any web page comes up telling me I need to buy an internet subscription with t-mobile. The manual says the browser will automatically use wifi when available, so what gives?

but i'm already connected to wifi. I have the green "wifi" box on the top. But is there some setting to USE wifi as opposed to a t-mobile internet subscription plan in the browser? it asks me to sign up for a subscription in the browser instead of using the wifi I am connected to.

    IS the connection strong enough?

    Using wireless coverage indicators
NOTE: The Wi-Fi icon is visible on the main screen when the phone’s Wi-Fi function is turned on.
To view the Wi-Fi signal strength, perform the following steps:
    1. At the main screen, select Main Menu.
    2. Scroll to and select Settings.
    3. Select Wi-Fi.
    4. Select Current Connection to view the signal strength.

    This should help:

    Wi-Fi

Configuring Wi-Fi on the ZN5 was a bit tricky, but ultimately I was able to connect to my WPA2 Personal-secured access point and access the Internet at large. The phone’s tiny screen and Symphony web browser are nothing to get excited about, but hey — it works. I’ve yet to try visiting any websites with Java or Flash, though.

To set up Wi-Fi, start by going to “Main Menu > Fun & Apps > Web Access > Browser Setup > Browser Profiles > Default Profile” and change it from “t-zones” to “WiFi”. Then, reboot your phone by turning it off and then back on. Once you’ve done this, you can associate with a wireless access point according to the manual’s instructions via “Main Menu > Settings > Wi-Fi” and then surf the Internet via “Main Menu > Fun & Apps > Web Access > Bookmarks -OR- Go to URL”. I turn Wi-Fi off when I’m not using it to save battery power.

The ZN5 comes pre-loaded with an e-mail and chat client which, in theory, can be configured to use the Wi-Fi connection via “Main Menu > IM & Email > Options > Manage > Application Settings > Data Connections” and selecting “WiFi”, although I’ve not tested this. It looks like it supports a number of major providers like AOL and Gmail, but I don’t see a way to configure a generic IMAP or POP3 account.

I just called t-mobile and they said I needed to buy a minimum $10 subscription for the "wifi to even register in the browser"

THANK YOU, THAT WORKED, I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOREVER
im gonna call t-mobile back and bitch them out.
