Text Message Alert Off

Hi, Does anyone know how to switch off the alert when a text comes in. The only way I can see how to do it is to turn off the incoming call ring tone as well. So is there anyway of turning the text alert off without turning off my incoming call ring?

Ok now I have another question regarding text messages. When I receive a text and don't open it straight away if gives off like a sonar alert every so often until I open it and I can't find how to stop it Can anyone help me with this one please?
