I don´t think that it is possible. We don´t have a WebKit based browser, Opera is ok, of course, but it isn´t that integrated into the whole system. Further it doesn´t support SVG...

    Hi all!

To be honest I do not have a Moto phone, I am into Nokia. But as I like to program for mobile I use to read news from all the big players and I decided to check out this studio. And I was impressed. I think I dare to say its better than Carbide. I missed a lot some kind of WYSIWYG functionality, but its a preview, so...

    - As far as I know we do not have phone with support for that platform here in Brazil yet.
    - The handset simulator is very good, the best I've seen so far (and you can remotely debug it). But it takes a bit longer to start up and you must read the instructions otherwise you can crach it (I dit it). For instance, not to close the simulator directly from windows (without clicking the studio's "stop" button). But you sure can create and test widgets without the phone.
    - Since I mentioned the instructions: the help pages embedded in the IDE (help menu -> MOTODEV Studio for Webui userguides) is very cool. Its well structured and have the most important things, easy to find stuff and easy to read. Tip: press F1 in any screen to check out a help page showing how to use the screen. Nothing new, I know, since its the Eclipse context sensitive help mechanism, but not all the IDES uses it to help us.
    - All in all, the IDE is well useful and easy to use, if you know a bit of javascript it is possible to start creating widgets quickly, in special if you use the built-in samples as references.
    - Still have some problems (for me the simulator speed was the worse), but I was happy to see it all in a free tool and in a preview version (beta). Let's wait for the official one LOL

Motorola guys: What about a visual editor in a WYSIWYG style? Specially for ajax stuff it would be awesome!

You can run both WEBUI and Widgets using the new firmware available for A1200 which is probably ported anyways.
it is available in A1200 Firmware Thread.

Please note that this firmware is not any more compatible with Linux QT/e applications as motorola has implemented a sort of lock unto it to avoid this. Motorola does not any more support Qt/e applications that were made using a casual MPKG format.
The new MPKG format is a simple zip file with application desciptor file included inside. Installation of widgets and WEBUI applications are inbuilt as well by motorola.
