I am looking into writing a set of tools for motomagx phones that would allow you to apply mods to your phone (telnet, FTP, custom UI sounds, custom slide/flip sounds, custom themes and more) whilst allowing you to keep all the default stuff that came with your carrier specific flex and firmware.
I am looking for anyone who is an owner of a motomagx phone and wants to mod it or apply mods to it to answer the following:
1.Which magx phone do you own?
2.Have you applied any mods to it yet?
3.Would you use these tools instead of flashing a pre-made firmware like linuxmod (and loosing all the carrier specific settings and data)? If not, why not?
4.What features would make you more likely to use these tools instead of just flashing a pre-made flash?
5.Would you still use these tools if it required a linux machine/partition (or a linux bootable live-CD) to use them? (would having a downloadable and usable ISO containing the required items to use these tools be of benefit?)
6.What other features should these tools contain?
and 7.Do you have any other feedback?
I suggest you to talk with Abram about that because he's working on a Project with similar Properties but it's more principal. You may cooperate or just differentiate your Projects because your both shouldn't create the same Bicycle twice!
May be MorolaFans.com will create a Pool of MotoMagx-Mobiles accessable by Internet for registered Developers and provide and share HardWare for Developers. Create a Box with a Mirror and place a Mobile in there. Because the Camera the Developer will even be able to get a Picture from the Mobile showing the Display's Content. A Developer may want to support all MotoMagx-Mobiles but that don't mean that a Developer want to buy all MotoMagx-Mobile-Models.I am looking for anyone who is an owner of a motomagx phone and wants to mod it or apply mods to it to answer the following:

PoL from Abram2.Have you applied any mods to it yet?
Linux have to customized by Package and not Flashes ^^3.Would you use these tools instead of flashing a pre-made firmware like linuxmod (and loosing all the carrier specific settings and data)? If not, why not?
Sharing Packages by BlueTooth everywhere4.What features would make you more likely to use these tools instead of just flashing a pre-made flash?
Hell yes!5.Would you still use these tools if it required a linux machine/partition (or a linux bootable live-CD) to use them? (would having a downloadable and usable ISO containing the required items to use these tools be of benefit?)
I want to note, that a V8-512MB is able to get extended up to 64GB by an additional iNAND - it just have to get soldered! If i got it right a V8 may also get extended to use 2x64GB iNAND! That's my favorite iPhone-Killa
Hmm .. i'm interested in Support for a BT-Mouse ^^6.What other features should these tools contain?
strange thing, right?

none yet. none available i guess2.Have you applied any mods to it yet?
definitely yes,3.Would you use these tools instead of flashing a pre-made firmware like linuxmod (and loosing all the carrier specific settings and data)? If not, why not?
I would assume this would be faster to apply than a 'pre-made flash' and easier.4.What features would make you more likely to use these tools instead of just flashing a pre-made flash?
hell yea. linux tools anyday. commandline options would be awesome5.Would you still use these tools if it required a linux machine/partition (or a linux bootable live-CD) to use them? (would having a downloadable and usable ISO containing the required items to use these tools be of benefit?)
i am not sure how you are going to develop these, however I would suggest python. Build a library with handles the core functions and let others help you build the gui and expand your app.6.What other features should these tools contain?
the option to backup and restore personal data including phonebook/ messages and calender tasks would be a great addition.7.Do you have any other feedback?
That's not right point, IMHO. Now I'm developing a new mod for Z6 (and possibly other phones, almost surely Vcalled Project Evolution. The main idea is "flash once, mod forever". All apps and mods should be installable via packages. Gorgoyle was right when he said about sharing packages via Bluetooth - that's possible!
Plz contact me if you want to help in some way. ICQ:158939012, XMPP/Jabber/GoogleTalk: abram@jabber.lviv.ua . XMPP/Jabber/GoogleTalk is preferable.
Wanna try?
MOTOMing A1210.
No, not at all; no tools that I know of at present to do so with this particular phone.2.Have you applied any mods to it yet?
Yes indeed, that would be preferable but as my phone is already unlocked it doesn't matter greatly.3.Would you use these tools instead of flashing a pre-made firmware like linuxmod (and loosing all the carrier specific settings and data)? If not, why not?
The only thing I can think of at the moment in addition to the features you mentioned earlier would be the ability for the A1210 to support a full-screen caller photo id app.4.What features would make you more likely to use these tools instead of just flashing a pre-made flash?
No. I don't have a LINUX box at the moment (yes, I'm on Windoze).5.Would you still use these tools if it required a linux machine/partition (or a linux bootable live-CD) to use them? (would having a downloadable and usable ISO containing the required items to use these tools be of benefit?)
I wouldn't mind seeing the ability to use mpkg apps for use in motomagx or convert them to mgx apps that the A1210 can use natively. Also it would be nice to be able to create our own native mgx apps. And let's not forget, a full-screen caller photo id app.6.What other features should these tools contain?
Not at this time. Thanx for your determination in advanceand 7.Do you have any other feedback?![]()
