Motorola devide EZX phone memory in many parts. each parts have it own space and limited size. some part of memory can be wirte. some cannot. The important part is a system part. in E680, E680i and A780 it call ezxlocal. in A1200 or E6 it call ezx_user memory table for each model is

E680, E680i, A780
system -> ezxlocal
phone memory -> diska

A1200, E6
system -> ezx_user
phone memory -> ezxlocal

The Question is what is system memory is for? it's use by phone to store system data and phone data. like contact, SMS, phone setting etc. and what make it so important for us? The answer is it's only a writable memory that phone doesn't convert to USB Storage. (another is phone ram but it's refreash everytime phone phone power off.) so we can use phone system memory to store theme, font, or another stuffs that use by system. The last question is What is a problem if we use system memory to store our stuffs?

Problem of using system memory is it have Limited size it have 5-6MB and always use by phone 2-3MB. so we have only 2-3MB for use. so if it nearly fulled phone cannot save configuration. so you can't change config. or if you install skin while system memory is nearly full. Files 'll not complete copy. when you restart phone may brick. this make a lot of problem for newbie.

If system memory can make a lot of problem so while we still use it? because it's only 1 memory part that stay in phone when switch to usb storage mode. If skin installer in Card or phone memory (E680i, A780) when you switch to storage mode phone will hang BUT not brick. just only remove battery and power on.

The safe way to use system memory for install theme is check your available space every time before install new theme and remove old theme before install a new one. Keep theme file in phone and install only 1 that want to use. do not install many of them. because Motorola EZX theme have a big file size. if you install 3-5 of theme system memory will full. use EZXcheck or another application that can tell you about this.

And becarefull when delete theme in E680, E680i and A780. The last used iconres.ezx file was locked by phone until you restart. so it can not delete with any theme utility. you need to restart phone after change theme before delete them.

If your phone BRICKED from install new theme. you have 2 options to do first telnet to phone and execute command line to remove theme and change back to default theme if you have a a CG43 or CG44 that have ability to telnet to brick phone. and second is flash it.
