I've been looking for it everywhere--and I get nothing still

Have you tried to build a kernel ?
Like in this tutorial Chapter 18. Building a kernel

After you open your config file with menuconfig, you will find cramfs under "File system" or under "File system --> Miscellaneous filesystems" it could be called as "Compressed ROM file system support".

hehe, I just got confused where to download kernel source of my distribution (Zenwalk)
#and I just deleted the one I downloaded yesterday --- redownloading
