Help With Internet on Mint 6 And Ubuntu 8.10

Can some one help me i have this problem i'm trying to connect to the internet through my ming's modem the same way i do it on windows vista but its not working ubuntu and mint detects the modem and installs it it also has my country and carrier ( i'm Impressed ) so setting it up was easy but when i click connect to connects then disconnects after a few seconds can some one please help me i also tried wvdial and used wvdialconf when i did that i get the pppd deamon has died error i really want this to work cause i'm new to linux and i really love mint .. anyway please help ( wooo that was a lot XD )

Hi,

definitely you need to add following ip to /etc/ppp/options.

:192.168.0.254

If you still facing some problems you can try to add these options too.

novj
lcp-echo-failure 0
lcp-echo-interval 0

If you are using wvdial, sometimes you need to add to /etc/wvdial.conf

Carrier Check = no
Stupid Mode = yes

well guys i tried everything but nothing worked and to make matters worse my lapped has died so no experimenting in linux anymore ( for now )
