Advanced problem with 169.254.6.106

Situation:
-fresh installed kubuntu 8.04.1
-pppoe is working with a direct connection to the dsl modem
-connection to the router ends with this IP 169.254.6.106

All i know is that this IP indicates a non working DHCP on the router.
Another laptop, same modell, same fresh installed Kubuntu is working.

Any hints?
Some system messages needed?

Hmm sounds funny to me. Try to use an old pcmcia network card if you own one or take the IP/DNS/gateway from working laptop as a static. Otherwise try to

ifconfig eth0 down

ifconfig eth0 up

dhclient eth0

After this have a look in "/var/log/deamon.log" is there everything ok?

Have you tried another linux live-cd for testing?

in the routers firewall i found my problem.
sometimes i feel stupid
now i am sure MAC Filter is working!
