If you are like me, you wont leave well enough alone, messing with things until they wont work anymore

In the case of the iPhone, this would mean, installing something that didnt play well with others, or doing something else that messes up the system and causes it to freeze. If this happens, all is not lost, and a simple fix can prevent you from having to do a full restore which may take hours depending on how many apps you have installed.

Most importantly, your iPhone must be Jailbroken for this to work, Make sure one of the first things you do after jailbreaking is to install OpenSSH, and write down your IP address for future reference.

Assuming you have done this, here is the next step:

If your iPhone is frozen, you will need to do a hard restart (hold down the sleep and home key for about 5 seconds) that will shut the phone down. Then restart the phone, and you will see the Apple logo. Now you have about 3 minutes to do the next step.

Open CyberDuck on Mac or WINSCP on Windows and SSH into your phone.

Find the folder var\mobile\applications

Rename that folder to var\mobile\applications2

In about 5 seconds the phone will restart itself.

Once the phone has restarted, rename the folder back to applications.

Now you will notice most of your apps have vanished, not to worry, they are still there, just not showing up on the springboard.

Connect your phone to the computer and Sync with iTunes, iy shouldnt take too long since all the apps and music are still there.

A few minutes later, your phone will be back to normal, Without a full restore.

Ive used this method a few times and it works flawlessly.
