Do you now seriously think that I should continue with a company that does not even understand the meaning of loyalty? Or cannot even bother giving a proper reply???
I bought a Motoming (A1200) on the 7th of July, 2007 from a store in Bangalore. I had always been a Moto fan and our family has had only Motorola phones to date. Buying a Ming was like the realisation of a dream as I had been saving to buy it for more than a year. Finally when I had it I was the happiest person around. I took pains to buy it with a bill just because I felt some loyalty for the company. And then, on October 12, 2007 some chap picked my phone in a crowded bus. I went to the police to register a complaint and they said they would get back to me only if someone bothered returning it and there was no way they could trace it. My Service Provider blocked the SIM and gave me a duplicate SIM and advised me to contact Motorola which I did with appalling results. I called them up to learn they do not have the technology in India to help me and this when India happens to be one of the fastest growing markets in the world. They refused to let me speak with their legal department or manager and asked me to mail them. The reply I got for it was this (As you may notice... Not even an Apology!!!):
Dear Dr.Abhijith Singh,
Thank you for writing us at Motorola Xperience Care.
With reference to your mail regarding MOTOMING A1200, we would like to inform you that as of now in Motorola, the technology which is use to block or trace GSM handsets is not available in India.
Warm Regards,
Andrew

see abhijith Motorola is in india to do business, they would not take pains of doing something for free unless and untill there is a law for it and will to implement it.. and that seems to be a distant dream...
Don't expect any thing in return of loyalty..
Just go and buy some other phone with tracking facility..
Samsung and LG do have it in them..
One more thing what u have mentioned in FIR..
means a report of theft or missing phone..
Rokr Rockzzzzzzz
We'll you really cant blame the company. They have NEVER stated that they offer a recovery/tracking of handset in case of loss anywhere in the Manual or guarantee. I personally know several Motorola employees and one of them lost a MING on an auto in Bangalore and he could'nt get his phone back either. In reality its the provider to blame because they can triangulate the approximate position of your handset as long as the sim is inserted, but the providers dont care so................. And if you wanted GPS in your handset you'd need to shell out another 5K, which I'm sure you would'nt do(nor would I for a matter of fact) I completely empathize with you but if something must be done, it has to be done on the Operators side, eg: block the phone(which is possible but all the operators have to do it which involves you going to every operators office and battling it out with them for days) so thefts will decrease, or manufacturers offering what Samsung offer, a SMS sending mechanism in case of sim change.

Akshay's post more or less hits the mark..
There have been cases where mobile phones have been traced by the Cellular operators.. but for that U need to have very high connections. coz they will do so only in cases where the police actually forces them too (like in a murder case.)
for a simple mobile theft i dont think any one will bother to take the pins to go through all the formalities..
and Motorola does not put some hidden trackers inside the phone so they cant point out the location of the phone..
and if they start giving out replacements for every stolen mobile.. they'll go bankrupt in no time considering the current situation of theft in India..
Another member of the forum (from Brasil i think) was actually mugged and his money and phone were taken from him .. He was glad just to be alive..!!!
you talk about motorola..
i lost n6600, n3100 and sony T230i
no company was interested in listening to my plea. even network operators like hutch and airtel refused straightaway even after i registered a FIR.
so the story's clear ::
lossing a phone in india is like dropping a diamond in an ocean. no one can get it back
hah..
i dint mentioned about the chinese brands yet![]()
my life can be simplier..
if i could just flash it
til date i havent lost a single phone..![]()
but my dad had lost many expensive 1's including last i-mate...
but no 1 cared abt it n my uncle in police told us that u cant do anything for the lost phone.. !
its not abt motorola or nokia or any company its all abt our countries rule n regulation .!
but i think we r still lucky coz in other countries ppl kill others too mug them..
1 of my family frnd just lost his 17 yr old child in canada coz he had o2 wit him..
