    If I used the branded 44P for this modification will the file work with my generic 44P firmware present on the phone or not? and if not, is there an unbranded 44P out there?
    By the way, how do I use the cramfs tool? is it through the dos cmd? and please give me the parameter used to unpack the CG file.
    Sorry for bothering you with so many questions and thank you very much for your help.

    If you disconnect cable when red MBM screen is appears - nothing would be flashed in the phone.
    for using cramfs you need cygwin - linux emulator for WINDOWS. Work style same as DOS or DOSBOX Windows.

    No I'm not dreaming! I have generic 46p and when I switch language setup on automatic, with my german SIM card Ming tries to deliver a german keyboard!

    I can see this board on the Ming's display (if you don't beleave, I'll post a photo) but I cannot use it (if I press on a letter nothing appears). After switching to englishboard and then back to germanboard, letters appear but the mapping is obviously from englishboard (x/y are changed äöü are?!').

    Another german user with 44p has the same, he told me.

    So maybe for german users it's enough to add the german.kbd file, I'll try that (I'm half way to that, "only" have to resize and split my "newlocale" and flash).

    btw: where can I find the GIF files with keybordlayout in the phone's filesystem? I searched but couldn't find anything, only .kbd files.

    What I meant is will the modified CG file from the generic 46P available here for download work with the generic 44P firmware I have on my phone? or I have to use CG files from a generic 44P firmware?
    Thank you very much for your replies.

    mischka:
    only iconres.ezx available in file system, keyboard is a part of that file. but you can't change them without flash anyway.

    about missing characters - try to replace in in you german .kbd file string:
    InputMethodType= .....

    with this one -
    InputMethodType={200100d4-7206-e819-6943-c7a1cedd91d9}

    So "iconrez.ezx" is CG34 or part of it, I undersand? I still didn' install cygwin so I cannot extract CG34 (don't have much free time at the moment).

    Where do you have this code from?
    On A1200 this file doesn't exist of course.

    I copied my german.kbd file from A780 and in that file I find this code:
    InputMethodType={637a8a14-af98-41da-969a-2bd16ecda812}

    I didn' expect different codes for the same keyboard on different phones. If you are shure that your code is correct for German Board in A1200 I will change that in my file.

    CG34 - you got it!

    About code - this is from english locale .kbd file.
    I am not shure.. i wrote TRY! hehe
    A1200 don't have german locale.. this code is default for english locale.

    if code replace would't work - you need edit exist keyboard gif files and english.kbd file only! same as russian localization

    OK, so I won't touch that code in german.kbd. Hopfully it's enough to add that .kbd file, and Germanboard works.

    But I still am willing to change the Englishboard too. I want it to be like the one on A780 with all european letters.
    Therefore I need t do this cramfsck with CG34 from 46p and that still doesn't work for me tried ubuntu linux and cygwin both stop saying crc error
    Maybe someone can help me with this?

    Should CG34 on A780 also be the one, where I can find the keyboard.gif files?
    I ask because there are no CG41/CG42 files in A780 flash file (maybe things have different names there). CG34 is there but I cant do cramfsck with that either.

    Now first I'll try adding german file only this would be great for me!

    Thanks bOOster

    Can you please explain how to unpack the CG files? I have cygwin installed but I'm not familiar with Linux commands, I've tried several times but I couldn't figure it out. So if you please explain how to use the uncramfs tool or point me to where I can find comprehensive info about it.
    Thank you for your help.
