Nothing is everlasting!
how important is infrared to a phone?
Infrared is a good feature (nutting like bluetooth) but nothing remains permanent !!!
Happy Independence Day !!!
Your TV doesn't come with a remote, that you want your phone to be a remote??? Hahahahaha.
Ok, I'll tell you something. I have a Motorola MPx220 that comes with infra-red. And I looked for a good app to make my phone a TV remote -- just for the sake of trying, of course my TV has remote. And you know what? After doing a comprehensive search, I found out that there are no good remote control application. Well, there are some, but not free, and totally not worth-buying. The one that comes with HP iPAQ PDA, btw, is excellent, but you won't be able to find any download source for that.
But the cool thing is, I can use my MPx220 as a bluetooth remote to my iBook (to control iTunes, VLC, PowerPoint, Keynote, even the mouse-cursor). I'm using Salling Clicker to do that. If you use Windows, you can install Jeyo Remote to do that.
But then again, they are NOT for E680i.![]()

You can buy a cheap palm III / palm m505 and install free remote software on it. Only because those have IR ports. Backlit, touchscreen remotes look good.
but the range is 3 to 5 ft ( 1 to 1.5 meters ).
lolz i usually sit like 2 feet away from tv!
I have another idea... take the remote... and stick it with your phone.. problem solve![]()
