w/ linux usbnet (or the belcarra drivers for 2.4.X kernels) the phone gets 192.168.1.2 as its usb inet addr and you may have to bring up the usb interface by hand on the FC 5 box (use: ifconfig usb0 192.168.1.1 up). do you know if usbnet is recognizing the phone?

you may find the application "usbview" useful; i'm not sure if its included in FC5, but it can be helpful to know how the OS is seeing the phone (if the phone is in USBNET mode then it should list in usbview as Mot USB Lan; if the usbnet module is not installed then it shows up in red as unrecognized. as soon as you do a "modprobe -v usbnet" the listing in the usbview app should change from red to black).

if you dont have usbview you can use lsusb to see how the OS is seeing the phone.

connect phone as usb modem. change mode to usblan by acmattach or usbmode app if it is not automated(as done in 3Search CG33).
go to konsole on linux box. type these in sequence...

    #su root
    #<give password>

    #ifconfig usb0 192.168.1.1 up
    #ping 192.168.1.2

once you are able to ping, it means network is done. you can telnet now.

Note: you can confirm systax of ifconfig command using "ifconfig --help" or "man ifconfig"

let me know if it doesnt work.

spellcheck ifconfig shall be there. you are using ipconfig, and there is none.
