I just got confused when it said "1. Create a folder named "Startup" in /diska/.system folder and put all startup scripts there." in the guide. I thought "there" referred to the startup-folder.

Sad to hear that that didn't works. As to why it didn't work... hard to guess.

sorry to interupt.. oskarbull.. i think it's regarding the 3search file.. i use to had this kind of probs at the first time i flash my phone, but i forgot which 3search file i use to get the phone to use the gaintable.

arzme : did ur phone do fine with that gaintable? my gaintable volume can go until 120 only. sometimes my ringtones goes slow, until i plug the headset.. reslide the volume in radio, then unplug the headset, it will become loud again. why huh?

I'm scared to try flashing, no insurance on my phone, and I love it way too much to risk it for anything. not much confidence in myself that I could do it . especially since all these people who are crashing their phone are now wishing they never did. But im curious...

how long would it take a noob to follow this process of flashing using these instructions??? please be realistic

"how long would it take a noob to follow this process of flashing using these instructions??? " Read, understand, download the right files, follow the guide step by step, i think a week could be enough..

my personal opinion base on my experience, if u want to try flashing,

    1. get another spare phone
    2. get an internet connection at ur home ( for refering if something bad happen)
    3. need a lot of reading and understanding what, which, when, to do or to get or to use files, steps, troubleshoot.
    4. be patient ..

then u feel the satisfaction for what u do.. and u will had a feeling to upgrade or to add more and more things to ur phones..

*we make problems.. so there's a way to solve a problems..*
    sorry for the spelling :P

I think i got the answer for ur problems.. the gaintable file should be like this .Gaintable.txt not .gaintable.txt

i download the files that arzme give and my phone sound goes very slow.. lucky for me im backup my gaintable file first. that is linux.. somehow it's a case sensitive os :P

    I got my sound back!!
I used the CG36 by Sandman (from here http://www.motorolafans.com/index.ph...details&id=263) and it worked like a charm.

I couldn't install linloader the hard way, so I used the linloader.mtf-file instead.

Everybody, thank you for helping me

Hi all - I'm from the UK, total nooby when it comes to phones but am trying to follow the 'flashing guide' - am ok but when I try and start the 'multiflashflex' thing it doesn't detect any devices. I don't understand, I think it could be to do with my mobilephone tools thing - when I install it it connects to the phone no problems until I take out my usb cable then I have to reinstall it everytime other wise it doesn't detect it. Anybody with advice on how to sort this out as it's really getting on my nerves!

    Thanks very much!

    @kungfoomastah,
    1_check you install multiflashpatch fully
2_Run multiflashflex plug your phone ,select 'manually install driver' and point to programs files/motorola/PST
    your phone will be detected

And make sure your phone is in the Modem mode - sometimes it picks it when in the USB drive mode, sometimes it doesn't (with me, it did once, and it didn't the next time).

Hi again - right thanks for the last help although I'm stuck again! I'm more or less done I think but for 2 things: 1. acmattach.txt does nothing at all - phone doesn't start in telnet mode when usb plugged in; 2. I've loaded neo ok I think - when I tapped installneo.lin, startup.lin appeared so i moved it to startup folder etc and then installed qonsole onto my SD card not enough memory on the phone). It installed ok but when I tap on it to open it I received the following message: "Error. The software you are trying to run is not a Java MIDlet. It will only run on specific phone models that should have been listed in instructions distributed along with the software. In addition, a neo-installer package must be installed and running on the phone. Sorry"

Any ideas? I thought that I had installed neo ok?

    Thanks a lot!
