unless the binaries are specifically compiled for the phone, you will have to at least re-build them yourself, but my guess is this its not a simple 1-2-3 task. (even if you find a version that is built for an arm processor, it is probably compiled with soft-float and may not work on our phones)
you really should find a good linux tutorial if you are interested in this, or doing anything of interest on the phone; for example you should already know what a tar file is and that the phone is easily capable of un-tarring it, if you don't know that you have a lot of learnin' to do before you can re-build the GPS software you are interested in - so start reading!!
update: i did a quick search through the link you posted and if you do want to start i'd suggest the qpeGPS as it is probably the closest to the native environment to the phone. It looks like it works w/ Opie so it might not be too difficult to get the app into an opie setup, but you will still have to wrestle with communicating w/ a GPS device; by default i don't think the phone can make a connection to a bluetooth enabled GPS device this is not standard to the phone you will probably also have to work with the bluez libs and utils that cyph graciously shared with us. (you do know that this is the e680i forum and the e680i does not have GPS?)
