Basically the AMCSL.TTF (if u're using original fontdef) should be a link so it can be linked to somewhere else.
#i dunno about Halftux method since i never use "mount"-i use "ln" instead. in addition i always link from /diska (which can't do hard link to /usr/lib/ezx/lib/fonts) so i have to do to /ezxlocal

maybe a bit late
but i only manage to use

 mount --bind /newfont /usr/lib/ezx/lib/fonts/AMCSL.TTF

by executing it as startup
