Default XMAME.SDL vs other OPIE games on E680

Since it is possible to successfully run Qt games like backgammon or qasteroids with the native ezx-qws server, I think it should be also possible to port (cross compile) the SDL version of XMAME.

Anyone dares to try? I don't have the cross compiling environment installed, I'm just playing with an extract of opie.cramfs.

I would LOVE xmame on the E680!!!!

BTW, if you have some free space on MMC, you can just copy opie without reformatting.

I try to compile SDL-1.2.9 for qtopia video driver without success.

    bin # testvidinfo
    Video driver: qtopia
    Current display: 16 bits-per-pixel
    Red Mask = 0x0000f800
    Green Mask = 0x000007e0
    Blue Mask = 0x0000001f
    Fullscreen video modes:
    240x320x16
    320x240x16
    Segmentation fault

    bin # testwm
    Transparent pixel: (255,255,255)
Title was set to: Testing 1.. 2.. 3...
    Running in windowed mode
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)
    Illegal instruction
    eXMMS and Rockbox running on E680, E680i, E680g, A780, A1200 and ROKR E6

SNES9x sdl that came in the new cyph's opie compile runs very good(with exception of keypad mappings ehehe).
Cyph posted the diffs of his opie compile, and that also include libsdl diffs.

    Hi,

not really working on it. I'm out of free time!! Also not sure I have the ability. I am a C programmer but not expert in OPIE or MAME in any way,
I hope someone will work on it - this little neat phone just misses MAME to be my dreams' device!

As I said - not kidding - I am willing to pay someone for the porting job! Just contact me privately to discuss it if you are interested.

I have succeded running frozen-bubble (slow but playable) on E680i but very inefficient because need perl + SDL + qte + qpe + opiecore (15.1 MB) and power eater. We must port frozen-bubble from perl code to C/C++ code so don't need perl (~9MB). Maybe I have to stop working on frozen-bubble and try to help compile mame.SDL. BTW, frozen-bubble on E680i very cute, all graphics and sound effect work. I have play it till level 25 on my E680i

what is this frozen-bubble you're talking about?
Anyway porting MAME would open the door to thousand of games.... not just one...

Frozen-Bubble, why not? It's run on SDL framework and now I know my SDL compiled run stable on E680i. There is Frozen-Bubble port for Symbian S60, why not on E680i? Sorry about my English.
