    Hi there,

A comprehensive and detailed step by step guide would be most welcome.

Here is the list of the files on torrent provided by pashkovsky, there's a total of seven files, I'm wondering why some say there are 12 files, and the files are as folows :
    1. e680i_c3_bin.zip
    2.e680i_c3_shx.zip 3.E680I_G_0D.C3.A8P_0D.B0.B1P_T674VE_L001_S001_P006_GSOE680IT674VE006_fullCG33.zip
    4.Motorola.Mobile.PhoneTools.v3.20f.Final.Retail.rar
    5.PST_7.2.3_GENERAL.rar
    6.r51_a1p_bin.zip
    7.r51_a1p_shx.zip

What does each file stands for ? Also it's mentioned that you can flash more than one file, what does this mean ?

Also which fuctions are not available or not working after the flash procedure ?

    Impatiently looking for areply.

    Regards,

bins are for tinkering. you probably don't want them.
the most important (and latest) flash is this:

download e680i shx (this is the firmware)
download e680i smg (the file with a very long name, patched root)
download PST (this is the flasher)
download MPT (if you plan doing sync with PC)

    Install PST.
in its installation dir, you'll find MultiFlexTool.exe.
extract the shx file in some directory and note where it is (let's call it dirX).
extract the smg file in some OTHER directory (let's call it dirY).
DO NOT RENAME THE SMG FILE !

    Connect the phone.
If the phone doesn't enter flash mode or its corrupt, use the magic sequence to boot it into flash mode (left-bottom sidebutton+ right-top sidebutton + power)
Tell MultiFlexTool.exe to flash the shx that you extracted.
When it says "Creating Image", wait...
when it says "Erasing flash", copy the smg file from dirY to dirX, near the shx file, overwriting the file that flasher created.
    Wait until flashing is complete.
When flasher shows an error, wait several seconds and exit.
Then wait some more seconds and reboot the phone.
To open telnet, look in the forum.

i did it this way, MFF says FLASH FAILED.. the phone still works so im guessing it has something to do with the file you copied over?

Do you have to copy the smg file? Shouldn't it just flash using the shx file?

I thought you weren't supposed to do anything till the flash from the shx file said complete.

Hmm... here comes a very noob and stupid question from the noob and stupid me.

How do i backup my phone? As in all the SMSes, my games' save games (took me a while to complete Evel Knievel game), and all my other personal stuffs? Do i just go through USB mass storage and copy the entire phone somewhere?

Also, after the flashing, can i put these backup-ed things back? Like my SMSes and stuffs.

    Thanks

I downloaded the torrent and am seeding as I type this. The instructions written are straighforward, however I am having an unusual problem.
According to the instructions "The phone should connect and be recognized. After clicking 'Start', do not touch anything and do not remove cable from phone."
However, when I put the phone in modem mode and start the MultiFlash app, windows attempts to install a hardware device named "pseudo". When it does not find the drivers, it simply refuses to be recognised inside of the MultiFlash program.
Up until the MultiFlash program is run, windows never tries to install a driver. As soon as the program is run, it says 'found new hardware' and attemts (an unsuccessful) driver install. For the life of me I can not get the program to recognise the device. Any suggestions?
