so what kind of possibilities does this open up to?
I did it!!
I managed to build a REAL null modem driver for Win2K and was able to fire up a PPP link from Windows over BlueTooth![]()
I think the same driver should work for USB... stay tuned.

web broswing via PC?
I think this can be done using the "share" functionality of the bluetooth driver, but I haven't tried it. Just does not make sense to surf with the phone when you are 5 feet from your PC.Originally Posted by joedude
Anyway, doing it via PPP should be possible but you have to set up IP addresses and routes on your host properly.

"I managed to build a REAL null modem driver for Win2K "
may it will work under windows XP too..
what do you need? win2000 sp1 sp2 sp3?
may i will need sp1 and sp2 on winXP?
i not want install SP2.
the SP2 for XP has the Bluetooth driver inside, but the SP2 will make generally some problems with some programs.
I think it should work, don't use XP personally but don't believe they changed the .inf format between the two.Originally Posted by y-cyas
The driver has nothing to do with BT, it's just used to treat the BT SPP link as a "plain" serial (so Win doesn't send modem commands to bring it up/down). The BT layer is beneath it. On my BOX when I connect this way the CPU goes to 100%, I believe that to be a WIDCOMM driver problem, I will investigate tonight.
Rick
do you use the widcomm? i use the same driver/program too..
what version from widcomm program do you use?
my Bluettoth LAN Access server Driver, widcomm version is 1.3.2.7 from 23.10.2002 i think its an old one.
so than i can try it too. hope it will work with my Acer BT500 stick![]()
Motorola e680 (flashed to e680i) + 4Gb SD card + HT820 Stereo BT Hedphones,
Ubuntu 6.10 + 7.04,
Nokia N95 + 8Gb microSD
I am relatively new at BT technology. I have a CSR chip in my BT stick.Originally Posted by y-cyas
The WIDCOMM driver is 1.4.2.10 but as I explained it gives me troubles
(PPP link works but CPU at 100%). I will try different drivers tonight to see if I can fix the problem. I bet this problem is related to the BT driver not the PPP setup.
