Thread: How to Cleanly uninstall .pkg files

  1. Default

    ill answer your questions in reverse.

    when i say block i mean coding for one program

    2. if you delete the wrong coding
    a. if you delete the wrong block of coding- you will delete the "desktop" reference to the program meaning there will not be an icon any more or any way to get to the program but it will still be in the memory
    b. if you delete wrong code (pieces of 2 blocks)- then you will mess up both references to the programs so depending on what you deleted, the icon may be an exclamation mark but still work, the icon might not be there , or the icon might be there but not work

    for your first question.

    1. did you use notepad++?
    if you did it should be easy to identify the blocks where they start and end by my pictures on the first post
    if you did and it does not look like the picture but just a long string of text then follow the instructions below this

    2. if you didnt (or did and it looks like one long string of text) then to find the beginning and end of each block you look through the text untill you find the program name (zmplayer in your case) then you slowly start going back to the begining untill you come to the first set of numbers that are in brackets "[]" then go to the first bracket "[" and there should be the word "visible=# (where # is any number)" before it. if there is then you select from the front bracket "[" then start going to the end of the file selecting all the way to the number in "visible=#" and delete that. if you are still having troubles, tell me and i will post more screenies tomorrow when i get back from school. (its 12:00 now and i have to wake up at 6:15, oh goodie )

    I would reccomended to use wordpad, you are not need to tidy the file again.
