I got a Transend SD Card 4 Gb (not micro SD but SD Card) for Rs.750/- @ Maya Plaza Chennai.
My Laptop card reader showed it as RAW - I could format it to FAT32 on my Laptop - and 3.7 + Gb - Apparently this is correct since a 4 Gb card is actually 4,000,000 Bytes and not 4 x 1024 x 1024 = 4,194,304 Bytes (1 Gb = 1024 Mb = 1024 * 1024 Kb ).
When I inserted the 4Gb SD card in my E6 - it said "Memory Card Inserted" and accepted it. However when I tried to browse my SD Card (mmc/mmca1 folder) I got a message saying "Your card is not formated - would you like to format it?". I clicked OK, and in the selected the Quick Format option. (which would wipe out any data in the card).
Now I was able to browse to the SD card from File Manager and saw that the .system folder got created by default. I took out the SD card from my E6 (after clicking Eject button), put it back in my Laptop Card Reader and copied over all the contents of my previous SD card (the 2 GB card which had come preinstalled). In additoin I could copy over contents (music / videos) to the extent of 3.7 Gb to the card !! ( I found that the card had got formated to FAT16) I put this card back in the E6 and was able to access all the applications as before. DiskInfo showed the full 3.7 Gb.
Only thing is that I am unable to access the SD card (mmc/mmca1) either in USB Mode or by telnet - So the only option to copy files to or from the 4 Gb SD card is to take it out of the E6, use a card reader and read / write to it thru a PC / Laptop and put it back in the E6.
Guys thats how you can use a 4 Gb SD card.
I have confirmed that the 4 Gb SDHC card does NOT work - you need to have a SD card ONLY. I confirm that the Transed 4Gb SD card does work - not sure about other brands !!!
