My e6 is stuck on HelloMoto Screen - HELP?

Had it nearly 2 years... the past couple days it has been acting weird. Text messages come in hours after they are sent to me all at once... it stops showing me the names associated with some numbers. I restart and it works.

Today, same thing happened. I tried to restart it, but now it's stuck on the welcome screen... motorola phone tools opens with it, but it won't backup or allow me access to it. radiocomm won't work with it either - seems to lock up.

What can I do? Is there a hard reset or something that removing the battery isn't doing? Turning it on while holding certain buttons?

Any advice or ideas?

By the way - I don't have any mods on it beyond the edge script. I can't recall which firmware I have on it, but I changed it a few years ago when I got it.

Eject memory card at once and re-try.
If it fails , you can have a flash because ''it is acting weird'' as you say , so there may be a software conflict or something.
Flash with a generic firmware and report back.

I can't flash because radiocomm won't talk to the phone - I ejected the memory card right away... also tried taking out the sim.

Oh snap - progress! - didn't know about the camera key. Anyone know before I flash this thing - is there a way to backup my data? contacts? photos? etc? My last backup was October of last year.

which firmware you are using...
If your firmware supports mpkg installations
then smartassistant is best for backup(sms, contacts)
and for pics, songs you can easily save in your pc

but if you are using any genric firmware the contacts could be save by using motorola phone tools but i am not sure for messeges.

I know I have a generic firmware - not sure which one. It's the one that had the glitch where the ringtones didn't include a vibe & ring (at same time) feature. I don't know how to check since I can't see the screen. Phone Tools won't talk to it either at this point. I'll look into smart assist, but it looks like that's something I need to install on the phone?
