Default [Query] Regarding internet usage on E6

    Hi friends,

I recently flashed my phone to the .22P software. It has inbuilt EDGE and my question is with regards to the same. My mobile service provider is Airtel-Bangalore.

Earlier I used the .08P firmware and the moment I connected my internet{on my laptop} it displayed the Network Connection icon speed in the system tray as 144 kbps. After flashing from 08P to 22P, it shows 12Mbps. My cell phone is connected in modem mode. I have these queries in my mind:

    1. What is the USB Net mode? How can it be helpful for me with regards to internet and other applications?

    2. An internet speed test on Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test displayed my download speed as 0.13Mbps. Is this fast enough for EDGE? The speed was displayed during non-peak hours. What can I do to increase my speed if there is anything I can !

    3. I have observed a slight increase in speed both on mobile as well as on PC whilst surfing the internet. Does the firmware help you attain better browsing speeds? If so, is it the best firmware I am using?

Any other suggestions etc. for my mobile would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks,

PS: On a completely different note. has the mobile thief application developed in complete capacity? Please let me know of such a link or link to a similar software.

1.USB mode use to telnet the phone.
2.as far as consider in india it is fast.
(it also depends on service provider)
    3.the reason is edge itself.

    for gprs 22p based/modded f/w are best.
if you want 08p with edge then alpha's script is available.
    but i suggest use 22p modded f/w's

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply! I have decided to use the 22P firmware itself. I find the 08P pretty lousy for internet related stuff.

I am still unclear on the USB Net functionality. I have used the telnet protocol on PC's but how and why would one want to use it on a phone? Any practical examples as to how USB Net has helped would be nice.

    Hi,

I am unable to comprehend the last post. Can you explicate further as to how telnet from my phone is related to PKG support for 22P?

first without modding you cant telnet phone!
    original/generic 22p doesn't support pkg apps.
so use konigs 22p for pkg apps & it is as generic f/w like 22p.

    Advantages of Telnet:

1.Browse phone memory files which makes installations of applications like Fingerpad dead simpler .

2.You can use your PC Internet Connection on the phone itself.

A couple of uses would be to take a backup of all files from the phone.
Also, directly running applications through the terminal window, like screencap
