How to add applications to a firmwware?

Hey everyone, I was trying to modify a firmware to add a few more apps, today. everything worked fine, and if I re-extract the new firmware, I am able to see the files properly. But after flashing, the new added applications doesn't show up at all. Also, the icons for older applications are still there. Don't know what I am missing, cuz I have already updated the UserRegistry and SysRegistry file, under "PreloadApps" folder. But still no application is working.

Plz help me with this, cuz its really bugging me a lot. FYI, adding ringtones etc are working fine.

You are modding a linux OS, dude... Just grep and diff around, say in a working fw...a modded one. ... you probably missed something in these files...

i am adding new apps to the modded fw. so grep won't help, right. i copied the files from the .system folder and the registry. but i guess, its cuz of those warning that comes during compiling the sbf. should i edit the .idx files for the CG, too? adding other stuff is working fine though, so I don't know whether that would be necessary or something.

Grep will only help to cherry pick the job of the modder, if the mod worked, i still think the config file is not good... Perhaps icon are not set? Try to extract the icons with ezxcodec and point to some icons that are in or add a new .

No idx is just to please rsd, it will not affect the fw after flashing...
Let that alone, it's not the problem, you will make this fle after the fw is exactly how you need it to be, it's useless to take care of this before.

hey, thanks for help buddy. figured out the issue myself. turns out i was idiot. i restored the backup from smartasst, which replaced the icons and all. stupid me, really. anyways thanks a lot.
