Touchscreen not working properly

i also used to hve dis kind of problems i tried cleaning it didnt work just wen i reset d phone it use to work for 3 to 4 days
gave it to motorola ppl dey used to do reset thingi and used to say it worked fine..den i was just surfing for d problem got to dis site tried 3 to 4 modded firmware in some it use to mke it worst and in some it used to work properly for some time den i used nik's first time firmware & i am using dat firmware since 2 months never had any problems den again he released a new firmware so i tried installing dat firmware in dat it again strted giving prob so i went back to d old firmware
just try dis out it's weird i knw but it worked for me & i m having no wat so ever problem may dis help u...too

I dont use any oil at all.. in my hair i mean. I do use my fingers on the screen quite frequently; but i have a pretty good screen protector.

My phone is about 2 years old i think? And it started acting up only a couple of weeks ago. Again, the problem is not consistent. Sometimes the phone works perfectly alright.

I highly doubt a firmware change will solve the problem. Like i said, i'll take it apart one of these, try some cleaning myself and post the results.

I had faced this problem some months back. Than i foun in some thread on this forum about a temporary trick & that worked for me. Its 'While using the touchscreen, Press the phone firmly just above the jockey key (where MOTOROLA is written). while holding firmly the screen worked properly.
Opera/9.60 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13216/670; U; en) Presto/2.2.0

I only ask cuz i got the same problem last night .. and now it has escalated to screen not responding to anything .. which can be annoying.

I want to get it serviced, but where i am nobody will even touch it ..and I am willing to do it myself, as long as i know what to do ..


any suggestions!

Interestingly this actually works....On pressing the space above the jockey key touchscreen works.....It worked for me.

I opened my phone to last piece .. cleaned it ..and then put it all together .. still no use! It didnt work!

Even the 'pressing the jockey key' didnt work for me!

I would like my phone to work ,.i can still use my keys.. but there is only so much you can do without your touchscreen working!

Is it possible to do an firmware upgrade without a working touchscreen??


Any other suggestions, before the phone hits recycle-bin!
