Hey aaunderscore format your card dear , and even if the problem persists take it to a mobile store . Even if your card is not a branded 1 he'l do it for you with some cash.
P.S : In future make sure you buy an original card from a recognized company only , like Kingston , Scandisk etc.

Yea it obviously depends on how fragmented the data on the card was in the first place. If it was already in chains, then defragging wont help much.
Besides defragging is mostly used in cases of large apps. Like a game on your comp which may take up 2gigs, and if parts of it are all over the hard disk, in small fragments, then reading it would take a long time. Hence defragging would make a huge difference.
In case of our phone, where applications are a max of 3/4 mb, i really dont know how much difference defragging makes. Just my 2 cent.
it worked...
Have you really measured a performance gain after "defragmenting"???
I really dont see how this could increase performance, TF/SD cards are SSDs, and dont have access delays for random reads like Hard Drives do. There are no moving parts, you dont need to have a "head" to seek for the start of the block like on Hard _Disks_.
Also, by defragmenting your TF/SD card you will cause a lot of block erases (needed before write), and all erases will wear out your card, so defragmenting will in fact make your card die earlier.
