Default BlueZ bluetooth connection to E6 fails

I have a d-link usb bluetooth dongle and running a Linux box. I connected easily to my mouse, so BlueZ works. I have also exchanged files with the E6 on OSX. However, on Linux the E6 is found but refuses to connect. When I try from the phone to the PC it says bonding failed (maybe a passkey issue?) and when I try from the PC to mobile, it says that the device does not support input services, which makes me think it is not entirely a Linux problem. Any thoughts?

This is a known issue with rokr E6.You may try changing binary files in your E6.

don't mean to doubt you, but if this were the problem, I shouldn't be able to connect to it from OSX
