Using Phone's GPRS on PC Windows instead of MPT

Hi guys,
I have been searching the forums since many days but i have not been able to find any discussion on this...

I want to use my Airtel's GPRS connection on my Laptop...I travel a lot and sometimes i forget to take the MPT software setup along with me wherever i go.....

I need my phone's initernet on my Laptop in some places....

Can u please tell me how do i do it?
I dont want to use MPT.....U have any simpler methods......
And if it can be over Bluetooth it will be best.....then no need for cords too!!

Well, if you connect using MPT, then a new connection is made. In XP you can access this connection and connect to it (without using MPT this time - don't think you'll still need it installed though) via start>connect to>the new connection - if you don't see it click show all connections. Don't know if that's of any use.

You probably havent seen a discussion on this because its ridiculously simple to connect to Airtel GPRS with MPT rather than without it!!!

i usually would use the internet on my rokr itself! easier faster and convenient!
considering airtel dial up is slow, doesnt make sense to connect to laptop and wait for pageload!
just download opera 4, and start on!

Does Airtel GPRS work on E6?
Coz I've seen a lot of discussion abt Airtel GPRS not working on E6.
Even my few friends are not able to use it.

it works for sure,.... use alpha script to upgrade to EDGE, (airtel automatically upgrades to EDGE if and where avaiable,)

with EDGE it becomes faster, but not fast enough for laptop though!

Ya Airtel GPRS sure works on E6......I've been using it since the past 1-2 years........

I do use net on my E6 in Opera but there are some websites which do not open properly on mobile browsers......

Besides.......on my laptop it is a lot easier to browse my favourites etc and the screen bein large!

I dont know for other cities but in mumbai Airtel does not provide EDGE services.....for sure!!

But still......i have my phone upgraded to Edge by Alpha's Script......show off

@anric = my situation is worse,... EDGE does not work in my house, which is 2Km from the center of town! even GPRS works sometimes!

works 1 km down or beyond my house! even works in far flung satelite towns and villages of the district!!! ,,,, why not my house ... not sure

opera 4, disable mobile view,... looks strange to begin with, but its easier with websites you know,... as you know where to find what!

Ya rahul i've been using opera for quite a while now.....i know it loads almost every site......ALMOST

There are some sites which just wont load eg: Travian - Browser Game - Romans, Gauls & Teutons
This site opens.....but when i log in with my id and pass......the links which i see in the OG i cant see them in opera on mobile....

I have posted this request here only after tryin everything i've got my hands onto......

Dude i would not spend 399 Mobile Office plan instead of 49 for NOP if sites worked in opera........

P.S. in case u dont know.....Under NOP u cannot connect to laptops for internet..
