no. phone does not have 3g. But a 3G sim should work fine like any 16k/32k sim.
hi there,
i have 3g sim and i want to use its high speed internet on my rocker but the phone can't recognize 3g networks .
because my in my provider when i use the sim on regular phone "e6" i get very bad connection 1-2 kb/s but when i put the sim in 3g phone and activate the 3g mode i get higher speed
so what am asking about if there is a way to make the phone recognize the 3g network.
no. phone does not have 3g. But a 3G sim should work fine like any 16k/32k sim.
i know that e6 isn't 3g "its been in my poket for almost 2 years now"
but there must be a way to make the phone recognize the 3g part of the network not just the gsm

You can switch from normal gprs to edge, but for 3g... no updates till now.
isn't 3g partly hardware dependant?
If you go to your dial-pad>(menu)setup>network setup>(menu)search setup, you will see the available bands.

even if i switch to edge its still the same slow speed internet, and when i search for networks i can see only the gsm networks
I wouldn't count on it. If you could access the network, surely it would have been figured out by now.
3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology. Which means that it is dependent on certain things. Your 3G SIM card only gives you the ability to access 3G network. But you also have to consider other factors before you can fully utilize the service.
1. Your MSP (Mobile Service Provider) Network offers 3G internet service
2. Your phone is 3G enabled/capable
3. Other requirements (SIM card, data plans...)
All of these must be met before you can use the 3G service.
thanks for your replays, and it seems can't be done
its time to think of new phone >>>> welcome HTC diamond![]()
I went from a Motorola V3x (3G phone) to a GPRS A1200r (now EDGE enabled).
The V3x is where I started exploring Motorola's fantastic capabilities: Flashing, Seem Editing blah blah blah... but sadly I took awful care of it, and ended up giving it to a dear (*sigh*) friend, so I saw it on it's last legs, it's probably dead now.
(Still got my E398 hehe)
Miss 3G speeds and video calls, but had the A1200 a year now from this month, and in the long run, it's by far my favourite phone.
