thanks man i'll try it and report.. nice having another emulator here and of course someone to port it
Hi. I finally ported (thanks to Lubomyr's help with SDL troubles) VBA - Best GB/GBC/GBA emulator ever!
It works great for GB/GBC games, but it's slow on GBA games (and then requires swap). You can still try playing GBA games, with overclock and big swap, it's worth a try.
1. Download: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/28596/Motorola/vba.pkg
2. Install as normal, tap on your game rom and select open with... and then select VBA
Important notes:
- The fullscreen does not work (there is black border). But it depends on game type, GBA is almost fullscreen.
- It is slow on GBA games, better use GPSP for them
- The hang out button will crash the program
- You can change settings in VisualBoyAdvance.cfg, it's in /mmc/mmca1/.system/QTDownLoad/vba/ but the defaults are good.
Keybinding:
- vol up/down for a/b
- center for start, browser for select
- camera to load state, mod+camera to save state
- (e6) next/prev track to change Save State No.
- (a1200, untested) mod+vol up/down to change Save State No.
- Mod is the key under hang out, no idea about A1200, sorry!

only keys on a1200 are: camera and VR on right side, but don't think VR is usable. Vol +, Vol -, and smart key between the to on left side. Then only Call, Hang, and joystick below screen. No "mod" key (whatever that would be on e6 even..well function wise - ok, guess I'm a little unfamiliar with the e6 - but have considered getting one just out of no reason i guess, lol, but A1200 is more than enough for me).
I've seen all keys being functional in .pkg apps, except the VR key.

I think it's like that, but I can't test, I only have E6.select key (between vol+ & vol-) (a1200) = MOD key
und.hangup (e6) = MOD key
@danielbrits: Is it working fine on a1200?
Btw, I designed the keybinding to be best for E6, but you can always change it via config file, see http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/d...tml#post158448 for key codes.
um..I haven't tested, i will check, but i only have some gba roms on my pc and i'm in bed now, so a bit lazy to move, but i'll download and install so long.
Ok, installed but, can't test now.
BTW, what is GB/GBC (Game Boy / Game Boy Classic)?
Game Boy Advanced was the colour screen, are the others those black & white game boys (i remember having a rectangular one, and then got one where they just made the device smaller, but the same games). Am i correct?

GB = Game Boy, it has only black/grey/white screen,
GBC = Game Boy Color, as name impliesAlso better graphics
GBA = Game Boy Advance - best of all, but this emulator is too slow for them. It's best for GB/GBC, that aren't supported by gpsp.
Any opinions, suggestions? I'm working on real full screen (stretch) but it's a modify-try-test-delete challenge, most of the time I get "cannot set video mode" :-/
New version is out! Download: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/28596/Motorola/vba.pkg
New in this version:
- Hang out button will ask to shut down game (second press = yes, other button = no)
- Fullscreen with improved graphics! 2xsai filter, that is.
- Lots of small improvements, that (in theory) make emulator faster.
- I don't think GBA will work anymore, since I made quite some changes to the filter source itself. It will run, however, if you'd modify vba.sh
People, please, test it and post your opinions.
The emulator runs and but i'd say it lags a bit. I'll try it without the 2xsai filter and see how it works.
Hey puppetshow i think you should check out this topic:

I've added this emulator to joaorodrigo's eLauncher app (I hope there's no problem with that)

Yeah, it's totally fine you integrated it, but well, I suggest you to wait for the -really- final version
New: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/28596/Motorola/vba.pkg
- Improved launcher script, now if called from menu it will display list of ROMs found (in /mmc/mmca1/Emulator/Roms, as gpsp uses) and will allow you to run them
- If the GBA game is played, filters are turned off
- Improved fullscreen, now works with --filter-2xsai (default) or -2 (worse graphics, better speed)
- Small improvements to the emulator
Oh - I found that it won't even start GBA game if you don't have swap enabled! Here you will find 128mb swap file.
k
Well if you're working so hard and you release frequently improved versions i'll just wait for the final one to come out and then me or joaorodrigo will integrate it into eLauncher
