    Arrow Mg Maps Offline --working!!!!!

If you have Motorola E6 and want MGMaps running in Offline mode, try following these instructions:

The Whole process should take only JUST 7-10 Mins!!:
Just check out the video which inspired me to doo all this:
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtWtk0Auch8"]YouTube - GMaps Offline - A1200i[/ame]

    Step1 :CREATING THE CACHE FOLDER:

GOTO : (click on the link below)

    Map Creation Tool for MGMaps

scroll down the WEB PAGE for instructions on how to download the xxxxxxxx.map file.

    WARNING:
Select Only Google maps in Type of maps option.
(i.e ) only any one of the following:
    -Google RoadMaps
    -Google SatelliteImages
    -Google SatelliteImagesWithRoadMapsOverLaid

    select your preffered setings

Click on the Generate Button and Save the xxxx.map file to your P.C

    INSTALL gMapMaker-Setup.exe
and wait for it to auto launch...

Select the cache folder where u want to save the cached data.
    Don't change the default settings
check weather The Operating mode =(MG mapMode, use a .map file)
    click go
select the xxxxxxx.map file that u have created earlier

AND WAIT FOR THE CACHING TO COMPLETE......

after completion u will find the MGMapscache folder has been created successfully.....

    Step2 :MGMAPS INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION:

    1. Install the mgmaps.JAR file into E6 . You MUST install the app on memorycard not on the phone memory.
    2. Run the application
    3. Exit the application
    4. Copy the Cache folder , in my case MGMapsCache into your storage (memory card). In my case it is located in SD/MGMapsCache
    5. Allow full permissions to the application and file system by followin steps
5.1 Plug the phone into the PC
5.2 Using windows explorer (USB Storage mode) navigate to \.system\java\DownloadApps\MIDletXXXX on your SD card where MIDletXXXX is the last directory in DownloadApps in alphabetic ascending order.
if you don't know which is your MGMaps, go inside each MIDletxxx folder and look for related words "mgmaps" inside /MIDletxxxx/Files/
5.3 Make a copy of the file registry.txt (in case you need to recover original file) and save in your PC
copy the registry file to pc and edit it .

WARNING: do not edit Registry.txt in phone u might loose it's contents ...
5.4 Edit the file registry.txt with a editor compatible with unix (Notepad++) (I use Windows XP Wordpad). Do not use MS Word or Notepad! (Be sure the file has a line saying: Jar-URL: appname.jar - if not, you are in the wrong directory)

The default registry file may contain the following lines:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Jar-Path: /mmc/mmca1/.system/java/DownloadApps/MIDlet20037/Files/mgmaps.jar
    Jad-Path:
    Perm-Path: /mmc/mmca1/.system/java/DownloadApps/MIDlet20037/permfile.txt
    Suite-Icon: /mmc/mmca1/.system/java/DownloadApps/MIDlet20037/Files/suiteicon.png
    DRM-Mode: Forbidden
    Is-Trusted: 0
    Jar-URL:
    Description: Mobile GMaps
    Domain: Untrusted
    Signer-Name:
    Mot-JavaVM-Heapsize: 17
    Delete-Notify:
    Num-MIDlets: 1
    MIDlet-1: MGMaps, /mmc/mmca1/.system/java/DownloadApps/MIDlet20037/Files/MIDlet-1.png, com.mgmaps.ui.MGMaps
    Prefer-Connection-Profile:AIRTEL-GPRS
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5.5 Change the values to these ones
    - DRM-Mode: Allowed
    - Is-Trusted: 1
    - Domain: Manufacturer

5.6 Copy the JAD file (mgmaps-signed.jad) into the same /MIDletxxxx/Files/ where you have it installed .
(by doing this you are adding the signature file to allow access to the stored maps. If you don't do this, it will not work at all!!!
5.7 Change the JAD information in the registry file as bellow
    - Jad-Path: /mmc/mmca1/.system/java/DownloadApps/MIDlet20037/Files/mgmaps-signed.jad ->(use your MIDletxxx location!!)
5.7.1 Save the registry file in its original location (MIDlet folder) and disconnect from PC
5.8 Go to the apps icon in the E6 main applications menu and hold the stylus until popup menu appears. Select Manage --> Permissions and confirm that all items are "Never ask".
5.9 Click OK (no need to change anything - doing so just forces new permissions to take effect)
    6. Run MGMaps and go to Settings -> Map Browsing
    7. In the menu, enable Stored Maps and enable Offline Mode
    8. In the Storage Path item, add the path to the main folder where the Cache folder is saved. For example:SD/MGMapsCache
    im my Case
    9. Save those settings and restart the application

If you restart the application you will see the maps.

    CAUTION:
If u dont see any map clicking on "MAP" button and wait ...try again until u see it.... (for selcting the map type)

It is very nice to see it working !!! It took some days to investigate and find it all !

I hope it can help other people trying to use E6. My version is E6 with firmware .08p, but I believe since this is Java application it should be the same for any version.

PLEASE let me know if it works :
    NOTE:
I've also uploaded CHENNAI's ROAD MAP CACHE FOLDER IN CASE U NEED IT.

    Mod Edit:

Since google has stop allowing "ripping" of their maps, we request users to reply to this thread and upload whatever maps they have already cached, for the benefit of others. It will be added to this post. In view of the sizes of the cache, please use an external upload site and link it here. Also, please exercise common sense to limit the zoom level and total size to acceptable levels of use in an SD card. Thank you.

You need to have .NET Framework v2.0 installed for gMapMaker to work.

For more information (installation/usage) about this program visit:
    http://forum.mgmaps.com/viewtopic.php?t=1116

And for other cache command line tools and things visit:

you've probably edited the "registry.txt" with a wrong editor, or you did it wrong. try to uninstall, install again and reedit the registry.txt carefully
