I tried doing this above mentioned procedure but I am still getting the applications with yellow exclamation mark.. please help what to do now?? I want the themes in my phone..![]()
please reply as soon as possible. Thank You
Hi all,
I have seen many applications which need to installed directly onto the memory card by copying the .system folder itself.
But i think, there is no need to replace the folder and losing previously installed applications.
Here's what you can do:
1. Copy the application folder which you want to install from \.system\QTDownLoad folder(which u have downloaded from web) say mpkg to respective \.system\QTDownLoad directory on your memory card.
2. Then open .system\java\CardRegistry file ( located on your computer) in wordpad or any other good text editor(not notepad).
It will be containing something like this:
[8a2b9b37-83e7-a8d9-82cf-0bcbe2070001]
AniIcon =
AppID = {8a2b9b37-83e7-a8d9-82cf-0bcbe2070001}
Args =
Attribute = 2
BigIcon = mpkg.png
Daemon = 0
Directory = /mmc/mmca1/.system/QTDownLoad/mpkg
Eraseable = 1
Exec = mpkg.lin
FixedAllPosition = 0
FixedPosition = 0
GroupID = ezx
Icon = mpkg_sm.png
InstalledDate = 2007/1/1
JavaId = -1
MassStorageStatus = 0
MpkgFile =
Name = MPKG
OsVersion = 1.2
Shared = 0
Size = 256K
Type = 2
UserID = ezx
Visible = 1
You may have multiple occurances of such content (for multiple applications, like i had ghost and mpkg in one .system\QTDownLoad folder.) Then find your set of application attributes by checking its name (Name = MPKG above)
3. Copy the content from [8a some number to Visible = 1 and paste it at the end of .system\java\CardRegistry file located on your memory card.
4. Save the CardRegistry file.
5. Restart the phone, the application you wanted to install should have come in menu screen.
Thanks,
Yogesh

Please make sure that the path mentioned in the line "Directory = " matches with the path of the folder where your aplication is.
For example, your application is mpkg and it is located in the QTDownLoad folder in .system, the entry should be like:
Directory = /mmc/mmca1/.system/QTDownLoad/mpkg
as mentioned in the description in first post.
i am also have tha same problem what can o do pleasew tell me
Hi friends...
i tried updating the registry file...
After restarting the mobile... i can see only the yellow icons.
Can you please help me in sorting out this???
I am having E6.
Appreciate your help on this !
Thanks
i also facing the same problem..& i also check the directory path, its right... but problem is there, shows yellow exclamation mark in menu items & when opned says "Invalid application file The file can not be used."......plz help.. i desperately need it......
The yellow icons happen if there is a path resoultion problem. Ie, a shortcut that leads to a file that is actually not there. So
1. Make sure that your paths are proper.
2. This method was proposed long ago. I am not very sure it's the best way out. You can actually simply append your existing registry file with the new one after the folder replacement.
First thing after copying and editing the registry file.... can your are able open the application.....if yes than it means its a problem of only icons so just change the directory path...eg-Directory = /mmc/mmca1/.system/QTDownLoad/mpkg then change it to Directory = mpkg....and if it says invalid application then konig is right..reflash with the modified firmware which suits your need....source for the yellow icons solution by motomaster..so thanks to him.
I agree, usually if it's a yellow ! mark it means two things one the app no longer exisits in ur memory card, or there something wrong with ur memory card. Sometime my memorycard messes up like for some reason it starts showin yellow ! marks I either restart my phone and if that methods dosent work then I do this, I never have to edit the registery text, I always make back up .systemfolder in my pc yes u could lose new previous installed apps but If I install something new I just make a new.system folder im my pc, simple U just delete the old in pc and drag the one from ur phone over. Now the next step is just copy(do not delete .systemfolder cause I found this out the hard way months ago it wont work T_T and had to reinstall a 120mb system folder from scratch) .system folder over form pc to phone and it will ask to replace etc..... click yes for all and the ! goes away, Simple
