Working SCREEN3

so did anyone else get this to work on their phone also?

I thought SCREEN3 was purely provider driven, and Cingular is the only provider? Anyway, I have T-Mobile and cannot get SCREEN3 to work.

yeah, many times... S3 does load, but when I attemp to subscribe to a feed, the web browser loads http://s3in.motorola.com/4g:80/w?mc=ListRootcats&u= and I recieve the following error: "Sorry, this function is not available to your operator."

In the S3 setup menu, I only have the choice of 4 profiles: AirTel GPRS S3, Hutch GPRS S3, IDEA GPRS S3, and Others. None of them work for me and I done have an appearent option to modify those profiles... unless someone is willing to instruct me?

Well I have Screen3 working and I have service with SunCom. All i did was change the AirTel gprs settings to those for Suncom and it worked.

You can the profiles by going to setup, the go to data network and highlight AirTel GPRS and change the setting to those for your provider.

By the way I'm running the hybrid 08p f/w with Quadband and Edge

So, like many of you, I set the "Others" profiles so that I can get Screen3. The problem is that we can't manage our channels and all I have it Motozone and FT Asia. So I copied the ezx_screen3.cfg file out of the phone and this is what is says:

Highlighted in red is the Others profile we're all using. Obviously, the s3my.motorola.com URL doesn't work for us (as far as I know). I've tried replacing it with ahs.cingular.com with similar results. I may try again when I get home from work, but that's in the air. Some people on motox have suggested that it's because the ROKR isn't a supported device on Cingular's network, and have tried the SEEM edit trick with other phones fool the network into thinking it's a V557 or L6. Any ideas? Perhaps just a different URL?

Screen 3 works for me after juggling around with some of the setup related settings. The good thing is that now both Screen 3 and Music ID are working... and working fine

Okay, so I did a little more digging and though I haven't yet gotten it to work, I've turned up some interesting results. Firstly, I edited seem 0117_0001 to reflect "V557", an old trick to get things to work by fooling the network [Cingular] into thinking that your phone is something else (Hey, it was worth a shot). I believe it was done on the V3i to make Screen3 work as well. Then, in the file above, since the s3in.motorola.com/4q/w? and s3my.motorola.com/4q/w? never work, I took a shot in the dark with ahs.cingular.com/4q/w? and yielded this:



Well, that indeed seems to be the correct URL for MEdia Net Live Ticker. I tried the Add Channels and Edit Channels links, but got the same screen. But, I decided to go ahead with it anyways to see what else turned up. So I copied the URLs for those links

With these, I replaced the instances of s3in.motorola.com/etc.etc. in one of the profiles in the ezx_screen3.cfg file. Once that was loaded, I gave it another try and got this:

Soooooooooo, what do we make of this? We know how to access Cingular's Screen3 channel, but it doesn't support the E6. Changing the 0117_0001 seem obviously doesn't work, since, as seen in the first pic, the network can still plainly see the phone's info (Model and Firmware). So, perhaps there's another way to trick the network? What do you guys think?

i also only have in setup S3 profiles 3 of them all the same none of them say other. How can I edit them to put cingular setting


Another problem i have with my phone is MUsic ID
i seem i have the faulty application Because i wont tell me to use a connection. Can Anyone post the real one here.

so just to confirm, no one with the T-Mobile data plan has gotten this to work because T-Mobile doesn't currently have a RSS feed service..?

But, people on T-Mobile have gotten the MusicID service to work, is that correct ?

I don't really know about MusicID, but Screen3 should work just fine for you. For us Cingular people, we can't connect to MEdia Net's Screen3 servers anyways, so we are all connecting to the same generic Screen3 servers. Should work the same for you as it does for me.

I did a little more digging and came up empty in terms of getting into the Cingular Screen3 service. I confirmed that the URLs are correct with people on Motox and by cross checking with Screen3 files from a v557 (dp_settings). But I still get the same errors as below:


Some of you may recognize the string in the error message as a browser UA String. Following that, I went into the ezx_opera.cfg file to see what was there. Lo and behold, there's a line which just happens to state the device in the error message exactly:

Logically, without regard as to how it would affect actual web browsing, I try to replace it with a UA string from a v557. No good. v3i. Nope. v3xx? No even close. That wasn't all that surprising. I didn't expect it to be that easy (though one can hope). The peculiar thing is that after every change (and I triple checked the changes), the error remained exactly the same. The string that I put in doesn't even come up. The device is still recognized as a "MOT-MOTOROKRE6" along with all of the correct browser info. So there are two conclusions that one may come to: (1) that the changes I made were somehow invalid and hence weren't passed by the browser [Opera] upon connecting with MEdia Net, or (2) that the infomation in the error is stored/generated somewhere else.

There is also (3) Both, and (4) Neither, but you get the idea. So, any ideas from you guys? All we have to do is fine where ever this info is and change it. Sounds easy, huh?
