Themes Installation (without restarting ur phone)

After I take a look and test it.

1. It is an EZX native app from Motorola (may be). coz it have a EZX-certificate-id.

2. It was complied by montavista devkit. How can I have it?

3. It can change skin without restart phone. but take a long time to reflash. (faster than restart)

4. Skin format to add doesnot compatible to old format. this make ppl difficult to add new theme for this app.

the way to add new theme for install is

place iconres.ezx *.skn and logo file in .system/theme/XXX
and place XXX.pskn in .system/theme

XXXX is skin name. so .pskn should have the same name as skin folder name.

and need to edit .pskn file by adding a path of current file into it. see it above quote. red text is a path of current files that should add. It's not a path that you want to install into but it is a path of where file it is for installer to find it.

PS. for all my skins you need to set ThemeIconDir to path only no iconres.ezx at the end.

ThemeIconDir = /mmc/mmca1/.system/theme/iroke6/

5. It install skin into /ezxlocal/.system/theme.

6. It does not remove old theme from another installer.

I 'll test it more. I doesnot test install it with mpkg I just copy it into .system/QTDownLoad and add registry.txt to the end of CardRegistry file.

Let try and report your result.
PS. It can not completely remove skins. the best ways is only switch back to default skin by phone's Syssetup and remove skins manually at /ezxlocal/.system/theme

This is a good sign that we should got more native ezx to use from now.

just a little question... u said, "The path is not required accurate. But the "/" and real file name info are needed.
The app will depend on these info to change them into real path when adding new
theme. If you miss these info, you can not add theme successfully.
now how do i name the folder as ./folder_name windows dont allow using slas in folder name. thanks for your help

the path will always be something like

/mmc/mmca1/.system/theme/folder_name

u dont need to keep the / in the name..
(as you will be placing the folder in the theme folder inside the .system folder )

readme does not provide a crystal clear info for how to modify pskn file for this installer.

this problem was strange for me that why I need to edit file path in pskn for add it into installer for installer to install into phone to change it to another path. lol. If this problem was solve in next version this is a great skin installer.

I'll waiting for it.

1. Mpkg package is .tar.gz of pkg folder file. if you r in windows use 7-zip to create .tar.gz.
2. mtf is only .tar.gz of skin files with fullpath (start from /). you need to extract and modding into this installer format.
3. .icons may also a .ezx rename. try to rename it. It should worked.

Path should be where you want to place skin file and folder into. I think It's not specific to only /mmc/mmca1/.system/theme. ex If you place skin in /mmc/mmca1/theme path in pskn shouldbe /mmc/mmca1/theme/XXXX. but I doesn't test it yet.

here is a pkg version of mototheme. It can install with 3rd party mpkg installer.

but when i try to rename it to .mpkg for build-in mpkg installer. It's doesn't work.

this package doesn't have any theme inside. user should edit and place in into .system/theme in SD like rokre6 sample.

This is quite offtopic question but I'm really interested in creating some new themes & I'm unable to unpack & pack *.skn,*.ezx files ???
PLEASE HELP.....

You can use "ezxcodec" for unpack & repack the ironcres.ezx and .skn files. It is working fine.
