Sine I am realizing that you are having huge trouble telnetting your phone, I would suggest you go and flash with a modded f/w with usb net added to the setup menu.

This would make your job a lot easier.

Hi, I did it long time ago and can successfully use my PC internet connection in E6 (both through USB cable and bluetooth).
If you need PC internet through USB cable I think there is a clear instruction in the forum already.
In case of bluetooth, I follow a guide in a Spanish site (I dun know Spainish, have to use google translation). It's a pdf file, I saved it somewhere in my PC, but I'm pretty busy lately, wait a few days and I'll try to find it for you.

USB net is usually included in various f/w's in the "setup>usb mode" for the ease of telnetting into the phone.

It saves you the trouble of starting a samba session , linux session,logging on server ,etc or in short manually telnetting your phone by simple putting your phone into telnet mode which you can access by viewing your network connections on pc.

It allows you to to browse your phone files and also the mmc.
