    @ravindran
    sorry to hear about that.

this may not help you but i have started and stopped opie probably well over a hundred times by now without any problems caused to my SIM using an e680i. which variant of opie are you using? (cyphs or the one directly from leprechaun's guide) if it is somehow a result of starting opie the only thing i can think of is that somehow the mounting process or the memory usage got in the way of the SIM card interface.

    Hi....

I'm using Cyph's version...I too believe tht the SIM crash has nothing to do OPIE ...could be due to wear and tear (2 years old sim)..But, want to rule out the same..and also check whether others have similiar problems..Hope to conform the same after checking with a different SIM. Meanhwile my other experiments continue.. Installed Fedora core 4 on PC and checking out what can be done with this setup..

    Hi All.

checked my brother's sim on my phone...
Works fine!! So.. hopefully nothin due to OPIE.

I also remember..some few days back I was charging the phone and removed the battery without switching off..(cant recollect why i did that .. ) this can be a fatal error...I got the message "No Battery" and phone was on though...

    3 days ..no working phone

    Hi All,

Got a replacement SIM and its working fine... From what is recollect, the phone or battery got too hot and in the process Screwed up the SIM.. So .. watchout !!!

But newer problems . I'm getting memory full errors.. probably the sideffect of the Garuda skin.. Did a master clear... Strange display and components appeared.. All wap gprs profiles and ring tone profiles wipedout.. uninstalled all 3rd party apps excpet the necssary ones lile linloader...Rebooted 2 or 3 times .. then mysteriously everything came back.. 1 by 1..after each reboot..

But still not able to save any of phone settings including Ringtone chages, usb mode, backlight ..geenerally any option under the SETUP. I get '"Memory Full"

Now i m lost dunno what to check... where to check .. as a last resort, before trying a master reset.

Also.. i understand that the post not relevant to the Topic.. KIndly excuse as I will start a new post after this..

Thanks for all your help and suggestion in restoring my phone to old state.

    Dear All,

I am happy to announce that we have solved my memory full problems.. The memory was indeed fulll !!!!!! :< ...

    I did the following:

    1. Telnet in phone
    2. Did a df -> showed that ezxlocal is full 100%
    3. Manually borwse thru alll folders and saw that some leftovers of Garuda theme were there in a folder called ICONS under themes
    4. Delete the folders.. Voila ..!!!! I have more free space
    5. Problem solved

So.. I infer that the problem with the Garuda skin is the image size is high and occupies lots of space. So.. before trying any skins ,, Pls backup your phone .. Make sure that you have enough space in Ezxlocal .. So that later you are able to boot the phone after installing the skins.. or other apss

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Ravindran

garuda theme was created outside of mfc. if you noticed, themes created here carries the warning message and some provides 2 versions for safer use

    Hi Yantz..

I agree... We should try all the stuff @ our own risk..The garuda theme also came with the warning and i took it up @ my own risk thoug i knew it caused problems with others. After whats the fun in life without taking risks. .. Finally.. we should persist in finding solutions for problems as we know that we would be facing them.. The result is here..Im ready for the next experiment LOl
