    Have you really considered what it means to have a swap partition on a flash disk? A swapfile is continually written to by the kernel to free memory on the phone. With a limited number of write cycles permitted on a flash device you are going to destory the blocks of the flash in the swap area rapidly. Swap on a flash is a great way to kill your memory card...

    Hello

    I have successfully installed the system on my E680I. When I run MkEzx, I find that when I start an application, I cannot shut it down, e.g., when I launch the input or the terminal, I cannot shut them down. Besides, how do you shut down the system and switch back into standard mode, if you don't simply restart the computer?

    Thanks

    @naset y dbatem: thank both of you very much for your piece of advice i will reconsider the idea of having a swap file in memory card.

    @TheSin
    thanks for your time
    i used the command free and you are right it's not using the swap
    because you are using a swap file could you express an opinion regarding screw up the memory card?

    p.s. also tried mkezx in an A780 and works faster than in a1200

    A phone ONLY uses flash memory, either the card (external flash) or the internal memory (Internal flash), the external one can be replaced and with the amounts of reads and writes I'd guess it to last around a year anyhow, and in a year it'll be even cheaper to replace. hell tomorrow it'll be cheaper But try and replace the internal mem... I think it's a small price to pay, but that is my opinion.

    What about RAM memory? It is not a flash memory, so you can't write that it uses only a flash memory.

    But you are right. It is better and cheaper to use external flash for swap than internal one. In worst case you loose only that partition where you have swap. Data on the card should be safe.

    The reason to use swap is not enough RAM, I'd love to have more on my A1200 but not as easy as installing a new stick. So althought the best solution not an option.

    One question before I take the plunge. If I decide to uninstall this package will the space be recovered on the card? Or will I have to reformat to recover space?

    If you use the Xsdl version it'll be recovered, or at least can be, if you use the repart version, you'd have to repart again to recover the space used.
