uncompile a mpkg file

hi can anyone here teach me how to uncompile a mpkg file...is the mpkg file using java code?.....can i uncompile to a java class file..please teach me..thanks

i think its just a tarred and gziped format; you can use: tar -zxvf <filename.mpkg>

For doing it from windows i'm not sure, you might try renaming the file from <filename.mpkg> to <filename.tgz> and see if a reasonable decompression program will recognize it.

in most cases an mpkg file doesn't contain any code, just an executable along with perhaps some resources (icons, data files, etc).

java apps are installed via the jar installer; mpkg files are generally for binaries (e.g. compiled from c or c++ specifically for the phone)

If you want to modify the code used to create a mpkg file, you first have to modify the source code, then re-compile, then re-package; do you have the source code for what you want to edit?

that all depends on the application you want to modify; where did you get the mpkg file from? start there and keep tracing until you find the source code used.

you can unzip mpkg with gziped(with ark) on linux (no idea on windows machines).
